Last Saturday hundreds of people gathered at Central Connecticut State University to participate in “An Injury to One is an Injury to All: A Conference in Defense of Civil Liberties and to End Indefinite Detention.”
The connection between these components of the government’s ‘war on terror’ arsenal came into clear focus over the past week.
On November 29, the Senate voted 67-29 to pass Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Amendment 3018 to the NDAA of 2013: “Sec. 1032. Prohibition on the Indefinite Detention of Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents.”
Former Bush administration attorney John Bellinger, ACLU Center for Democracy Director Jameel Jaffer and WSJ Pentagon correspondent Julian Barnes appeared on NPR's On Point program to discuss the legality of the Obama administration's seemingly ever-expanding drone war.

Now that the elections are over, we must gear up to make an impact on Congress and the White House in the coming months. We should also be preparing to take local actions that move human and constitutional rights back onto the political agenda.
