EVENT: The Olympics and Civil Liberties

This Sunday I'm giving a talk about surveillance and the Olympics. Details below. The event is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Sunday, April 5, 11 AM

WHAT: There's been a lot of talk about the financial cost of hosting the 2024 Olympics in Boston, but very few people have discussed what might happen to our civil liberties if the international games come to town. Unfortunately, history and the projected budgeting for policing and surveillance suggest the civil liberties impact on the city and region would be substantial. What exactly might $2 billion in 'security' spending do to Boston, for the games and for the city's future?

WHERE: Community Church of Boston, 565 Boylston St (2nd floor), accessible from the Copley street stop on the Green line and the Back Bay stop on the Orange line.
