Massachusetts newspapers to state legislature: Regulate police drones

The Salem News and Gloucester Times want state lawmakers to pass a law to regulate the government’s use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones. In an editorial published in both papers, the editors write:

The possibilities for surveillance are endless with this technology, which is why it’s essential the Legislature adopt specific legal parameters for how and when law enforcement and other government agencies can use it.

We couldn’t agree more, and urge the adoption of S.1348 or S.1349.
