Mysterious plastic bag shrouded surveillance cameras puzzle onlookers

This morning at Boston's South Station I saw surveillance cameras covered up with plastic bags. Are these new cameras that have yet to be fully unwrapped? Or did someone play a funny prank on the surveillance state? Perhaps it's an art project?

Whatever the explanation, I prefer it to the naked camera.

UPDATE! Asher Wolf pinged me on Twitter, alerting me to an Earth First! Journal blog post that details a number of methods for destroying or incapacitating surveillance cameras. One of those methods involves putting glue on the inside of a plastic bag and then smearing it on the bulbous camera container, rendering the camera useless. Could it be that someone has executed this mission in Boston? I will check back tomorrow to see if the bags are still there.
