Occupy the MBTA — an offshoot of Occupy Boston — began a temporary occupation of the Massachusetts State House steps to protest fare hikes and service cuts to public transportation. Last night the camp was evicted.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff is visiting Boston today. Police told demonstrators last night that they were under orders from the federal government to clear the "impact zone" around the State House, presumably in advance of her visit. Watch.
