The science of video analytics gets better every day, enabling spooks and corporations alike to gather more complete information about all of us as we go about our daily lives. Target tracking, face recognition, movement analytics and license plate tracking can all be integrated into surveillance camera systems, and these technologies are increasingly affordable to police nationwide.

Unfortunately, there are virtually no legally binding regulations or statutes that limit the kinds of invasive CCTV technologies police can deploy. That's got to change.
