War and security journalism ‘aiding the enemy’?

Accused Wikileaks whistleblower Bradley Manning appeared in court last week facing a number of charges including 'aiding the enemy' and violating the Espionage Act. The trial is in the evidence gathering stage. Manning's defense is trying to get all of the charges dismissed, as well as gain access to a number of government documents related to the leaks.
