The grant was a $500,000 stream from the federal Department of Transportation to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS). EOPSS received applications from the state police and about 90 local police agencies. The following 43 were selected for participation. NOTE: Brookline's Board of Selectmen, after weighing privacy concerns, decided not to accept the grant money.
