On Friday, 30 August 2013, the German Section of the International Association Of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms, Vereinigung Deutscher Wissenschaftle, and Transparency International (Germany) awarded NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden the biannual Whistleblower Award.
